Post-processing with Lightroom & Photoshop

Post-processing is an essential part of photography, allowing you to take your raw images and turn them into polished, professional-looking photographs. In this course, you will learn how to use Lightroom and Photoshop, two of the most widely used post-processing software, to enhance your images and bring out their full potential. We'll cover a wide range of topics including, but not limited to, colour correction, retouching, compositing, and creative effects.

You will learn how to use Lightroom's powerful tools for organizing, editing, and exporting your photos, and how to use Photoshop's advanced editing capabilities to take your images to the next level. You will learn how to work with layers and masks, retouch portraits and landscapes, and create composites.


Course Curriculum:

  • Let’s jump in to post-processing, a great way to push your raw images even further to get your desired results. In this module we’ll discuss Lightroom and Photoshop (as well as some other software), how you should use them, and how to set up a basic workflow.

  • Learn how to use the editing console to adjust exposure, colour, tone and sharpness. Discover the tools that Lightroom offers to make editing your photos easier and more efficient.

  • In this module we’ll look at selective adjustments to improve your photos. This includes things like masks, distortion correction, applying presets and advanced object selection.

  • Let’s get familiar with the Photoshop interface, learn the key tools you’ll need for enhancing your photos and discuss the best workflow in conjunction with Lightroom.

  • In this module we’ll look at working with layers and masks, retouching and compositing, sharpening and Orton effects, dodging and burning, portrait editing and more.

  • We’ll look back on the key uses of post-processing platforms and examine a few other techniques you can use on other software to push your photography even further.

Participants based in Hong Kong can opt for practical, in-person lessons, otherwise these will be done remotely with assignments.
Required equipment: Software not required, but having Lightroom Classic and Photoshop pre-installed would be a bonus.
